MGA Gives THANKS — Not Just on One Day but in Our Firm's Fabric

We are thankful for our clients and colleagues, but instead of cluttering their mailboxes with another gold-foil Thanksgiving card telling them that, we are continuing forward with our tradition of putting those funds toward a greater purpose.

This year, we put the funds we would typically use on our annual Thanksgiving cards toward the needs that our community has here and now by donating to the Houston Food Bank to help put needed food on others' tables — in honor of all our great clients and colleagues. By redirecting the funds spent on our holiday cards, we provided roughly 3,000 meals for families in our community.

As we head into the holiday season, and Thanksgiving, in particular, we thought it would be a great time to look back at how we have recently given back to our community in various ways.

The Many Ways MGA Is Giving Thanks This Season

Here at MGA, we offer all our team members “volunteer time off,” where they can spend one day per year giving back to their communities in ways that matter to them. Many use their hours during the holiday season to get out in the community together as a team, so be sure to follow us on social media, where we will highlight their days of service and how they used their time to give back this year.

We are sponsoring several events this season, like CYCLE's upcoming 17th Annual Bicycle Ball. CYCLE is a children's charity committed to improving literacy among second-grade children at Title One schools in the Greater Houston Area. They do this by rewarding students with brand-new bicycles after achieving defined academic goals, teaching the important lesson that hard work and dedication do pay off.

Another upcoming event we are proud to sponsor is Songs on the Frio, a weekend of listening room type of performances by award-winning singer-songwriters to benefit the Frio Canyon EMS.

We also sponsored two recent golf tournaments, one where 100% of the proceeds benefitted Texas A&M Galveston Scholarships and the other benefitting The Folds of Honor Foundation.

Lastly, we will be participating in the Houston Fire Department's Annual Toy Drive, which provides toys for more than 20,000 children each year. We reimburse our employees up to $50 of the money they spend on toys, encouraging participation and support for this great cause.

Also, Heads Up! We Will Be Closed the Entire Week of Thanksgiving This Year

We also want to let you know that this year, we will be closed the entire week of Thanksgiving. We are typically closed that Thursday and Friday, but last year, we added Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to our "holiday" as a thank you to our incredible team members — to give them time to rest, recharge, and spend time with those they love.

We are excited to make this a recurring, permanent extended holiday for our team members, giving them nine days to be with those they love or spend time doing things they love and allowing them to return relaxed, refreshed, and reinvigorated. Our office will open back up on Monday, November 28th.

We Are Wishing You a Wonderful Season Ahead

Please know that we are incredibly thankful for you and the trust you put in the MGA team. We hope you and yours have a wonderful season ahead and take the time to truly appreciate the things that matter.
